In 1993 a performance at the Kurhausplein in Scheveningen was recorded by the sound technicians. The band liked the recordings, and decided to make cassettes.

In 1998 TOF released their second album on CD, called Don't Forget Our Monday Date. In 1999 the CD was released by the prestiguous GHB label in the USA, well known for the magazine Jazzbeat. The CD was released under number BCD-414.

At the 80th reunion of Dr. Jazz on October 9th, 2004 the last CD Jump & Jazz was introduced.

Together with 10 other bands from Enkhuizen, you can hear the Old Fashioners on a compilation CD of Sgt. Pepper's jazzclub in Enkhuizen, Sounds of Jazz.

Why.
The band was very reluctant to record a CD. A low-cost budget prohibits long recording sessions, and nobody was looking forward selling a CD for years that embodied the possible bad mood or bad luck of a few hours. During performances many people asked for a CD, and many people were very disappointed to hear that we didn't have one. If you want to be taken seriously as a band, you simply have to have a CD. Our main goal is propagating Old Style Jazz or New Orleans by whatever means appropriate a CD would be perfect. The band decided to record the CD in three or four sessions, to be able to do a second or third take if necessary. We think we succeeded. That is, as always, nothing is perfect, but we are able to sell the CD without excuses, and the main asset of the Old Fashioners, enthousiasm and drive, is perfectly maintained on this CD.

By he way, the title of the CD is the title of one of the songs, but also a reference to our weekly rehearsal on monday.

Reviews.
Several people, Dick Turksma of Sgt Pepper's Jazzclub and Wim van Eyle in Dr. Jazz Magazine reviewed the CD and agreed with us on our view : The music is great, although not always perfect, but the enthousiasm and drive are so overwhelming you have to appreciate the CD.
Who, What, Where.
The CD has been recorded on four tuesdaynights Februari 3rd and 17th, and March 9th and 13th 1998 at CoCo Sound Studio in Den Helder, by sound engineer Fred Hurkmans. Gonnie Breed catered us during the sometimes emotional sessions with beer, bread and coffee. Dirk Goos, for many years our photographer, did some pictures of the band and Sam and Marcel designed the cover. Norma Kooiman translated the Dutch Blurb in English.
