The band arrived at the isle of Bute, Scotland, after a lot of trouble on Friday, May 6th
1998, for the Bute jazzfestival, organized by cornet player Phil Mason, who lives on this
island. He invited the band to attend this festival a couple of times already, and in 1998
they finally were able to accept the invitation. Sam and his wife Loekie went ahead with the band gear by car, and
was already enjoying the island for a couple of days.
The other members of the band went by plane from Amsterdam to London, and from there
to Glasgow. At least that was the plan, as the plane from Amsterdam had a failure,
causing the band to miss the connecting flight in London...Eventually they arrived
by ferry at the isle of Bute, to be dropped off only 10 minutes late at the first
gig. In the mean time Sam kept on telling the audience that the rest of the band had 'Some Delay'.
He shouldn't have done that: the rest of the weekend he was called 'Sam Delay'.
